One tip to becoming a Transformational coach. Stop yelling. Start communicating. This begins before practice. Connect with your players. Ask them how their day has been. Look them in the eye. Give them a fist bump or high five. Show them you see them and you care. Then carry that connection into practice. Connect, communicate, motivate, smile. Your athletes will trust you, appreciate you, respond to you. You can thank me later.

So besides learning a little HVAC, what I also was schooled in: 1. Even if you can’t help, listen. 2. Your knowledge is invaluable and when you teach it, so are you. 3. Follow up prevents fumbling in the end zone. 4. Kindness earns respect.

If my memory serves me, this guy (as a high school student) once had to answer a busy @CoachEgger ‘s phone and talk to a fairly frantic Mrs. Egger and he handled that great. He can handle your feet, too.

Got to visit Dr. Chris Smith today, a former student-athlete of mine that competed at the highest level and is now living out the highest calling—service of others. If you need a podiatrist, this guy’s office is the place to go. Pathway Foot and Ankle in Melissa - go see him!
