Never underestimate how much time and effort you can waste by trying to automate a process you do not understand manually.

"token-shaking" is the new "mouse-jiggling"
Been hearing wild stuff from folks inside big companies lately. Promotions, firings, and perf reviews are getting decided by tokens consumed and skills/MCPs connected. That’s the metric. That’s how they’re deciding who’s “good at AI.” It gets worse. People are literally running loops to burn tokens and look productive. Doing nothing, racking up “usage,” getting rewarded for it. Meanwhile the person actually shipping with 2 skills and 50M tokens looks like a laggard next to the one who burned a billion tokens producing nothing. These companies are walking into a death spiral and don’t see it. The funniest part? Measuring actual output is easier than ever. You have AI. Use it. In 18 months the same execs will announce “AI didn’t deliver ROI” and pull the budget. AI will have worked fine. They just measured the wrong fucking thing and torched millions rewarding theater over output. Every company should be pushing AI hard. But this is how you guarantee it fails.

(Spoiler: YES!) It's time to talk about Magento's future. We think Adobe will do the right thing and help us ALL preserve a $30B GMV technology. linkedin.com/posts/activity-…

I really do think there's a generational thing at work here. Those old enough to remember The Station nightclub fire in '03 know that once fixtures are enflamed, GTHO!
Another video of the Crans-Montana fire has emerged Dear parents, please, I beg you Beyond safety measures and pirate owners Teach your children one thing When faced with fire, drop the damn phone and run!!! Period

"In 2026, is Magento sinking into the ocean?" Short answer: not at all. This was a question in r/Magento, and my answer turned into an exposition. If you don't know me, I was chief evangelist & community wrangler for Magento for many years. linkedin.com/pulse/2026-mage…

Yesterday I saw a post saying it (aka Silicon Valley for AI) would be London. Methinks these aren't well-founded hypotheses. (My equally-unfounded hypothesis? The Silicon Valley for AI will be... Silicon Valley.)

100% agree here on the upsides of Spain, but when we talk about tech in comparison with the US: - Taxes are too high - Salaries are too low - Grind mentality is absent The entire system is designed to keep you away from entrepreneurship and toward employment. There’s no better place to live than Spain. There’s no better place to earn and build companies than the US.

I want people to chime in on this assessment.
I believe that what tobes is doing with @pushmatrix's role and others is that he is literally like one of the old school rennaisance dudes that is commissioning a new kind of artwork. Like he's literally bringing into the world and general consciousness a new form of artwork which is data driven and digitally native. The amount of resources they put into these things honestly seems silly and wasteful unless you realize that art matters and tobes tha god is bout that life. Not sure who's reponsible for the editions page but Tobi is literally commissioning a specific class of digital artist - I'm sure Daniel is not the only one but he's the most sophisticated one by far IMO. I keep tryna tell yall some of yall don't understand the 100 year company mission. This is part of it. Shopify is going to have an extraordinarily outsized positive impact on all of society beyond just helping a few people make a few bucks. I literally didn't even know editions was landing today and don't have time to look into it. My bad guys. @Shopify 💚 📈 📈 📈 📈 📈 📈 📈

OpenAI’s perception as having ceded the top position in AI with respect to frontier model development and consumer adoption forces a few realizations: - Vertical integration is critical. Last month, I fine-tuned Gemini 2.5 with Vertex AI and deployed to an endpoint on GCP with a few command line inputs and clicks in the GCP web interface. The enterprise use case probably requires more functionality than mere API access; it has to provide the technical ligaments for integration and deployment. - Distribution isn’t disrupted. Google and Apple continue to control the principal content dissemination points for consumers, and although recent regulatory / legal challenges have challenged total app store control (eg., third-party app stores and payments), Google emerged from its antitrust trials with Search primacy in tact. “Google’s Gambit” proved successful: AI Mode has 75MM DAU, AI Overviews has 2BN MAU, and Google and Apple remain the fundamental chokepoints for consumer discovery and engagement. - Ads remain the dominant / inevitable business model for mass-market consumer products. A disciplined product development process needs to accommodate the ads monetization model from the earliest stages and manage the ads-related engagement / monetization tension as a product priority. Delaying the introduction of ads simply inflates the presumed consumer pushback ("enshittification", the fatuous notion that excess consumer surplus is beneficial in the long term).

Many teams ship ChatGPT/Claude to production for simple tasks. That's like using a Formula 1 car for a McDonald's run. Here's how to choose what features need AI and which models to use: web.dev/articles/right-sized… Lower latency. Reduced costs. Better privacy. Smaller footprint✌️

💥 I’ve been doing these visual explainers, this one is about rendering on the web, I’ll post one each day this week. Hopefully it helps break down stages- parsing, render tree construction, layout, paint, etc, for folks who are learning.
