Anyone can sound smart once the market agrees with them. The harder work happens earlier, when you walk into room after room and still have to explain why AI belongs on the leadership agenda at all. Thatโ€™s what we did when we founded @SwissCognitive in 2016. Not to make AI sound impressive. AI has clearly and irreversibly moved into the decision layer of every company. At least for every company that wants to remain competitive. That was the most striking takeaway from the AI in the Boardroom webinar with @andy_fitze from @SwissCognitive. What became clear very quickly through our conversation: the real shift shows in how decisions are ๐ฉ๐ซ๐ž๐ฉ๐š๐ซ๐ž๐, ๐œ๐ก๐š๐ฅ๐ฅ๐ž๐ง๐ ๐ž๐, and ๐ ๐จ๐ฏ๐ž๐ซ๐ง๐ž๐. Across organisations, we see a consistent gap. AI capabilities are advancing quickly at the operational level, while ๐ฅ๐ž๐š๐๐ž๐ซ๐ฌ๐ก๐ข๐ฉ ๐ฌ๐ญ๐ซ๐ฎ๐œ๐ญ๐ฎ๐ซ๐ž๐ฌ, ๐๐š๐ญ๐š ๐Ÿ๐จ๐ฎ๐ง๐๐š๐ญ๐ข๐จ๐ง๐ฌ, ๐š๐ง๐ ๐ ๐จ๐ฏ๐ž๐ซ๐ง๐š๐ง๐œ๐ž ๐š๐ซ๐ž ๐ง๐จ๐ญ ๐ž๐ฏ๐จ๐ฅ๐ฏ๐ข๐ง๐  at the same speed. That is where complexity turns into ๐ซ๐ข๐ฌ๐ค. One insight stood out in particular: AI should not only be used to improve existing processes, but it should also trigger the question of ๐ฐ๐ก๐ž๐ญ๐ก๐ž๐ซ ๐ญ๐ก๐จ๐ฌ๐ž ๐ฉ๐ซ๐จ๐œ๐ž๐ฌ๐ฌ๐ž๐ฌ ๐ฌ๐ญ๐ข๐ฅ๐ฅ ๐ฆ๐š๐ค๐ž ๐ฌ๐ž๐ง๐ฌ๐ž ๐š๐ญ ๐š๐ฅ๐ฅ. That is a board-level discussion about ๐ฏ๐š๐ฅ๐ฎ๐ž ๐œ๐ซ๐ž๐š๐ญ๐ข๐จ๐ง. At the same time, as AI starts to support decision-making with more data, patterns, and scenarios, ๐š๐œ๐œ๐จ๐ฎ๐ง๐ญ๐š๐›๐ข๐ฅ๐ข๐ญ๐ฒ becomes more demanding, not less. Boards need to understand where AI informs decisions and where human judgment remains essential. And then there is trust. The less people understand AI, the more hesitation we see. AI literacy is not a technical detail, it directly shapes ๐š๐๐จ๐ฉ๐ญ๐ข๐จ๐ง, ๐œ๐ฎ๐ฅ๐ญ๐ฎ๐ซ๐ž, and ๐ž๐ฑ๐ž๐œ๐ฎ๐ญ๐ข๐จ๐ง. The question is not whether AI belongs in the boardroom. It already does. The question is ๐ฐ๐ก๐ž๐ญ๐ก๐ž๐ซ ๐ฅ๐ž๐š๐๐ž๐ซ๐ฌ๐ก๐ข๐ฉ ๐ข๐ฌ ๐ฉ๐ซ๐ž๐ฉ๐š๐ซ๐ž๐ ๐ญ๐จ ๐ ๐ฎ๐ข๐๐ž ๐ข๐ญ.
