It’s amazing that people believe what they read as if it wasn’t just another fucking human who wrote it.

This is how, when I was a young writer with performance anxiety and a deadline, I'd psyche myself into writing. I'd read an essay I loved and tell myself that it was just another fucking human who wrote it.

American democracy survived w/out the Inspector General position at Federal agencies until 1978. I'm sure it will last the duly elected President hiring new ones. BTW - I don't recall these folks' over-the-top hysteria when Biden fired individuals whose terms had yet to expire.

It was all a con, over and over, year after year, decade after decade. And Americans were rich enough and resourceful enough and later cynical enough to keep getting taken and getting taken and finally to pretend that the con was business as usual rather than admit we had been fooled. Eventually servicing the con -- keeping it going, distributing its proceeds, covering it up, financing its debts, legitimizing its shoddy tactics, philosophizing about its nature, criticizing it, distracting from it, and a thousand other associated tasks -- nearly became the basis of our society, our culture, and our economy. But not quite. Not quite. Some residual sense or instinct or hope or maybe fear kept us from giving ourselves entirely to the massive runaway ever-compounding scam that in some fashion we are all in on at this point. It's probably paying half my bills right now. I have no idea! Though actually I do. It's almost certainly over half. What a staggering unwinding this will be.

Did Panama ever change its national anthem to Panama? Because, if not, that’s a horrible fucking mistake.

Being that Vern was born today in 1930, it seemed only fitting to offer 30% off! 😜🎊 For over 65 years, Vern’s innovation are turning dreams of flight into reality. From his groundbreaking work on model rocket engines to creating a global community of enthusiasts. 🙏🏼

Uh, I was curbing those damn things my own damn self before you pulled up.
Folks, there's an actual bank CEO who named his boat "Overdraft." I can't make this stuff up. It's because, for too long, overdraft fees have been cash cows for big banks. My new rule finally curbs those excessive fees.
