I'm delighted he's been recognised with an MBE. However, he should be much further up the 'awards ladder'. Wonderful work by a humble superstar
Lou's a top man. His life is like being a character in a Viz cartoon. Love it how he mixes with people from all backgrounds. Proper good sense of humour too. And a massive heart.

This video is one of the most viral clips of Pope Leo in Spain, and it took place in Madrid. Influencer Rocío Casas (@de_la_mano_llevame) shared this video on Instagram, which we are reposting with permission. This is the message that accompanies it: “Yesterday I experienced one of those moments that stays in your heart forever. It was Roscón, the son of Samantha Vallejo-Nágera, who handed my canvas to the Pope! And when I saw it, I couldn’t help but get emotional. Those of you who know me understand how important Down syndrome is to me, because it is part of my life through my daughter Blanca. That’s why seeing that it was precisely Roscón who delivered that gift to the Pope felt like one of those gentle touches from the Lord, telling me: ‘I am here.’ Some may say it’s a coincidence. I don’t. I see the hand of God in everything, every day. The Holy Spirit is alive. He continually surprises us. He speaks to us in a thousand ways. And sometimes, His gentle touches come like this. I am so moved and so grateful for everything I’ve experienced these past few days that I feel I lack the words. I can only give thanks! Thank you, Lord, because once again You have reminded me that You are in everything and that You care even about the smallest details of our story. THANK YOU, Roscón, for being an instrument of this wonder @samyspain.”

Said to myself 25 years ago that I'd only ever go inside Sagrada Família (capacity 9,000) when the main tower was done. Wasn't sure I'd ever see the day, but the Pope was there yesterday to bless it and it has reached the maximum height. Stunning church.
We see the tower of Jesus Christ illuminated for the first time! The light show, starting from the base up to the illumination of the cross, culminated with a composition of lights guided by drones that traced the figure of Gaudí and the phrase “first love, then technique”.

One of the most beautiful moments before Spain vs Peru pre-World Cup did not come from a goal, a tackle or a piece of skill. 🇪🇸 v 🇵🇪 💘 It came from kindness. As the players walked onto the pitch, Peruvian defender Fabio Gruber noticed that the young boy with Down syndrome accompanying him was feeling cold in the stadium. Without hesitation, he removed his own jacket and gently placed it over the boy’s shoulders. In that simple act, football showed its heart. Moments like this are why the world loves football. As we head towards the 2026 World Cup, may we see more of this spirit on and off the pitch. #FIFAWorldCup #fwc2026 ⚽❤️

Loved this. Reliable rule of reading fiction is that every time you pick up a book by a mid twentieth century British woman novelist it will turn out to be a banger. I think that era is of the under-appreciated peaks of the history of the novel.

This afternoon, 28 new recruits of the Pontifical Swiss Guard swore allegiance to the Roman Pontiff, His Holiness Pope Leo XIV. The ceremony takes place every year on May 6th, the date in 1527, when 147 Swiss Guards died defending Clement VII during the Sack of Rome.

Tib Street, Manchester. Renowned for pet shops in its heyday. These photos show just how classy they were. (We exchange parrots!?!) "Do you sell wasps?" "Of course not" " you've got one in the window!"
