Agent Sprawl is the 2026 engineering risk your auditor hasn't named yet. Uncontrolled parallel AI coding sessions are a silent SOC 2 liability. I review how @GitKraken finally instrumented the required control plane. heyvaldemar.com/agent-sprawl…

AI moved developers from the writing layer to the oversight layer. Review times are up 4.6x. PR volume nearly doubled. The developers most effective with AI are spending more hours coordinating output than creating it.

AI made writing code faster. It did not make shipping code easier. The bottleneck moved. Most teams haven't noticed yet. Everyone got faster at generating code. Almost no one got faster at delivering it. Generating code is not the same thing as delivering software. In 2019 the problem was: Git is hard. In 2026 the problem is: Git is easy. Keeping all the AI-generated code from breaking everything is not. Big changes are coming next week.

Your repo after a few weeks of coding agents: 🌿 branches everywhere 🤖 agents everywhere 📂 worktrees everywhere 😵 context nowhere GitLens 18 is our answer to that. The Commit Graph became a workbench for parallel development. 🧵

Hot take from Google's DORA research: AI mandates aren't the problem. Unclear ones are. When orgs have a clear, communicated stance on AI adoption, individual effectiveness goes up, delivery performance goes up, and friction goes down. The clarity is the unlock. 100% this. AI amplifies your current development. Make sure it is amplifying good work.
Hot take: the most AI-proof developer skill is not ‘prompt engineering.’ It'a making your work easy for other humans to understand. Clean branches. Useful commits. Reviewable PRs. A repo history that tells the truth. That's leverage.

Pleasantly surprised by the LLM substituting a squid emoji in place of the @GitKraken logo

Shameless plug - @GitKraken FTW My fav is how easy it makes managing & working my submodules (...and avoid those notorious pitfalls). I still mainly use CLI, but there's something I love about the high-level view it gives that keeps it in my toolbox. gitkraken.cello.so/ZuJHa3JyY…

The post that inspired this was a great read (link in post), so I’m glad I was able to pay homage with one of my own.

@cmgriffing wrote the code review post we didn't know we needed. 5 reviewer personas. One very relatable breakdown. gitkraken.com/blog/the-5-hat…

10 devs. 10 AI agents each. Production-ready in 16 weeks. Not a demo. Not a prototype. This is the new baseline. youtu.be/kkKZu-2CtnU

I really enjoyed this chat. It was the first one of the day and I was a bit nervous going into it, but Shaundai made it so chill and conversational.
The best engineers at Big Tech aren't the best coders. They're the best at influence🎯 @shaundai, Engineer at Netflix, calls it the Inception tactic — and it's just one gem from this new GitNation Heroes podcast episode hosted by @cmgriffing! Check it out: youtu.be/XZYZoVFCB-o

"Git is hard" is the most accepted lie in software. It's not hard. It's just invisible. We fixed that.
