I am honoured to have been asked to speak at the Aberdeen Pride Protest next week. Our community is living through a challenging time, especially our trans siblings. It is important we stand together, now and always.

I agree with @Ross_Greer on this. An inquiry into party financing is long overdue. Party oversight systems also need looked into. Unless there is evidence public money was involved, it is up to SNP members to hold their office-bearers to account. bbc.co.uk/news/articles/c30y…

The stakes go beyond emissions. Done well, the just transition can create jobs, reduce poverty and raise living standards. The goal is not simply to decarbonise the economy, but to use the transition as a catalyst for economic renewal.

The biggest challenges now sit in key devolved sectors: 🚗 Transport emissions increased in 2024 🏠 Building emissions increased in 2024 🌾 Agricultural emissions remain stubbornly high 🌱 Land use emissions continue to present major challenges The era of easy wins is over.

📉 Scotland's latest greenhouse gas statistics are out today. Emissions fell by just 1% in 2024 - one of the smallest annual reductions on record. Scotland is still reducing emissions, but progress has slowed sharply just as the hardest part of the net zero transition begins.

It is brilliant that so many people have received this help through the cost-of-living crisis. Equally, it is scandalous that roughly 11% of the population of Scotland’s third largest city needed this help. More action is needed to end poverty. deadlinenews.co.uk/2026/06/0…

So you thought double jobbing at Holyrood had been banned? Think again! 22 of 24 councillors elected as MSPs last month will stay in post until May 2027. There is no excuse for this deficit of democracy - the loophole must be closed. @heraldscotland heraldscotland.com/politics/…

I don’t agree with double-jobbing for our politicians, with the exception of emergency service personnel. Being a councillor is a full-time job (it should be paid accordingly) and so is that of an MSP. Hopefully, we see amended legislation in this Parliament.
A Green MSP has defended her decision to double job as a councillor. Kayleigh Kinross-O'Neill spoke out on X after two other @Edinburgh_CC councillors-cum-MSPs resigned today. heraldscotland.com/news/2616…

Climate change goes far beyond the environment. It affects public health, economies, infrastructure, and communities worldwide. Over the past 50 years, extreme weather events have caused more than 2 million deaths and US$4.3 trillion in economic losses. Last week, we learned that the number of young people not in employment, education or training in the UK reached a grim milestone of 1 million earlier this year. The UK now has the highest NEET rate of any European country in the OECD and the only EU country with a higher rate than us is Romania.

Aberdeen is getting hit with job cuts. Oil & gas is in terminal decline, college and uni cuts limit transition opportunities, and our media is becoming further centralised in Glasgow and, to a lesser extent, Edinburgh. This is not just or sustainable. Where is the action plan?

Aberdeen is Scotland's third largest city, Aberdeenshire has a population matching the city. Yet the only railway stations in Aberdeenshire are the towns that happen to be on the intercity lines, and the city itself has only a single station. It's time to fix this.

The abusive tweets directed at @MhairiHunter @kellylgiven @RosaZambonini and @ionafyfe on here are a new low. The SNP made mistakes, big ones, which were exploited by a shameless official. They gave their view. Nothing they said justifies what has followed.
