I spent the day reading to my friends at the Warren School. There’s something so very special about seeing the faces of elementary students while they listen to a great story. I love my job!!! #180DaysOfConnection

I forgot to post my #180DaysOfConnection moment yesterday. I saw this guy walking in the hall with a football, so I needed to stop and chat. He wants to play wide receiver and enjoys playing after school with his friends. I hope to see him on a field for Ashland someday.

I always appreciate when my #180DaysOfConnection moment is initiated by the student. This sophomore student-athlete greeted me in the hallway and struck up a great conversation. He’s proud of his efforts and successes in the classroom and that certainly makes me proud as well.

While I’ve known this senior since she was in 1st grade, I really got to know her during a school trip to Italy last year. She’s a special kid and I’m so proud of her for signing her NLI to play lacrosse at @snhupenmen I know she will do great things. #180DaysOfConnection

I had a great conversation with this book loving 4th grader today. We chatted about one of our favorite authors, Andrew Clements. She shared that science is another highlight of 4th grade. #180DaysOfConnection

Smiles didn’t always come easy for this guy. He’s a sophomore now and when he stopped to talk to me, it made my week. After I asked about him and his family, he paused and asked, “How are YOU doing, Mr. Caira?” Moments like this are why I’m doing so great. #180DaysOfConnection

This fantastic student is off to a terrific start. She had a great summer and visited the Cape, but she was excited to get back to school. That was music to my ears. She’s enjoying all aspects of 7th grade, especially math. #180DaysOfConnection

These two fabulous freshmen have brought a smile to my face since they were in kindergarten. I’m glad I spotted them taking a break, after they finished their class work. The schedule and athletics are the best parts of high school. Basketball is up next! #180DaysOfConnection

These twins are loving third grade. They had the best time at their first Kids Night Out on Friday night. Their favorite part was the dance party in the cafeteria and also being able to play in the outdoor courtyard! #180Daysofconnection

I’m certain this Phillies fan isn’t very happy right now, but he’s always smiling at school. It was great to chat with him about the MLB playoffs and his classes. I’m so happy I decided to take my walk when I did, because he made my day a whole lot brighter. #180DaysOfConnection

I’ve watched this 6th grader grow up since she was a baby. She’s enjoying school, especially Advisory and her Social Studies teacher got a special shout-out! From gymnastics to field hockey, she’s very busy after school. To top it off, she turns 12 tomorrow. #180DaysOfConnection

I missed out on my #180DaysOfConnection moment on Friday, so I made sure to touch base with a lot of students today. This student showed me some terrific work and I enjoyed hearing about his favorite part of Grade 5. It’s great to hear our students excited about math and writing.

As @AshlandSuper and I walked down the hall today, one of my kindergarten friends came out to tell me I needed to visit her classroom. She and her classmates filled my bucket with a gift of homemade cards and drawings. It was the highlight of my week. #180DaysOfConnection

I stopped by to see this jr to sign off on his National Honor Society paperwork. I’m glad to hear the year is off to a solid start. He’s playing golf and gearing up for a successful basketball season. If I can just get him to show off that great smile I’ve known since he was 5!
