Cycling fans that don’t get caught up in seasonal form we were also surprised by how the Seixas hype train eclipsed it all, incl. perf. data. And even today, many are still saying that had Seixas not crashed, he would have beaten yesterday a 6.67 W/kg 650 aSLP Del Toro, crazy…

What is ASLP?

Malheureusement Saul Peixas est tombé dans la potion petit on risque de se taper des 670 aslp de sa part très vite Del Toro fera pas le poids

I said Jonas is better… I also said I think IDT could follow giro Jonas. Jonas should be able to beat IDT in the tour. Issue with Jonas is he is 7-10kg lighter, he has to get separation to make that aSLP work. IDT can sit on 665 when he is at 650

I still believe he can get 2nd in the Tour, think he can reach 670 aSLP in TdF
🇫🇷 Paret-Peintre backs 🇫🇷 Seixas' tough 🇫🇷 Dauphiné call “He was very motivated last night, but this morning things were obviously different. It is normal not to feel good after a crash like that, and there is no point pushing through it.” 📰 domestiquecycling.com/en/new… 📸 Cor Vos

I see VAM, W/kg and aSLP thrown around on cycling X but it seems W/kg is used more than any of the others when “measuring” results. Is this true and is it the “best” metric for comparison right now?

Isaac Del Toro said before this race that he was not at his best, but today he delivered arguably the best long-climb performance of his career. Plateau de Solaison (11.20 km at 9.15%; 1,025 m of elevation gain): 33’05” at an average speed of 20.31 km/h. That’s 1,859 VAM, 6.67 W/kg, and 650 aSLP. Now imagine two things: Del Toro’s level at the Tour, and the level of his leader, Pogi. The more I think about it, the more I believe UAE handled his comeback perfectly. They didn’t rush him after that crash or try to bring him back too quickly. Instead, they took it step by step, and I think he will show at the Tour that the patience was worth it.

Not even close. His raw performance level is higher, but that's just the post-2024 watt spike: Simon Yates did a 650 aSLP last year on Finestre, and we all know peak Roglic was way, way better than peak Yates

Yeah, and @Na1chaca would better explain it, but I think you need to have 20-30 aSLP on the next rider to drop them off your wheel without an attack. This IDT probably holds the wheel on Piancavello. No way on Plateau though
75
In todays cycling that doesn't really exist, and a 25 ASLP difference is insane

I speak in English. I see in aslp and w/kg.

I think blockhaus had worse aSLP? I think Jonas being lighter needs to push 20 aSLP more to drop IDT. Not sure he did one at that level. But IDT would just be hanging on the wheel the whole time

The numbers tell the story 668 vs 650 aslp
