To every ADHD brain out there: Your brain isn’t broken. It’s not defective. It’s not “too much.” It’s just running a completely different operating system — and that OS is powerful as hell. We do 30k thoughts a day and still show up. That’s not a glitch. That’s a feature. 🔥 #ADHDexplained #Neurodivergent

On Father’s Day thinking of all the men who feel through the cracks and were stereotyped. If you’re still struggling with your self -esteem; I want to remind you how beautiful your brain is. The stereotypes are still rampant. It was thought boys could only be hyperactive, so when they weren’t, they were bullied. It was thought that girls could only be inattentive, so if they met criteria for the hyperactive-impulsive or combined type they were shamed. These boys and girls then grow up and deal with self-esteem and self-worth issues - and possibly have co-occurring trauma. Hope my BOOK busts stigma so hard, that you start even slowly turning toward your brain with even a little more kindness and compassion: it is SO SO beautiful. An upcoming post will be for non-binary folks. Follow @adhd_with_drjen for more SurThriving. Can you relate? - lesson 36 ADHD Life Lessons I Wish someone told me after getting diagnosed, number 36 of 50 If you have ADHD, you will often, from one second to another, be in a really bad mood. You don’t know how or why but all of a sudden you experience existential dread, imposter syndrome and don’t believe in yourself anymore and it usually really confuses people around you because a second ago, everything seemed to be fine. Thoughts like “I always fail”, “I’m a fraud”, “I will never achieve this”, start flooding your system, and you can’t seem to battle them, leaving you feeling enslaved by your brain. What did it do to your brain? 🤔🎧 If vou have trouble focusing with ADHD, try listening to bilateral stimulation music. Binaural beats are a type of auditory beat stimulation which have the potential for improved concentration and increased calmness, something that can help with focus for people with ADHD. They occur when you listen to a sound at a certain frequency with one ear and a sound at a different but similar frequency with the other ear I.e. the “panning” effect Disclaimer: All my content is based on my own experience and/or research/observations from licensed professionals. Can you relate? - lesson 34 ADHD Life Lessons I Wish Someone Told Me After Getting Diagnosed, 34/50 If you have ADHD, you may often find yourself overthinking things to the point of feeling completely miserable because whether it's about what groceries to buy, what people will think if you post that video, or who to partner with for a project, the more you overanalyze, the more overwhelmed your brain becomes. This can lead to increased anxiety, procrastination, and difficulty sleeping as you try to avoid making a decision altogether, which can be emotionally draining. It was during this time that I discovered the power of thinking less and trusting my instincts. Instead of constantly overanalyzing decisions, I realized that, our brains are really good at making connections subconciously, giving us the ability to sense other people's intentions really well and that I needed to learn to trust my intuition. **Now, for important decisions, I still take time to sleep on it, but I focus on trusting myself to take action which has resulted in some of the best outcomes I could have hoped for.** Lesson 34: Follow your intuition Disclaimer: All my content is based on my own experience and/or research/observations from licensed professionals. Remember that people living with ADHD are unique, and what works for one person may not work for another. Therefore, it is important you communicate with your friends openly about how best you can support them. #adhdawarenessmonth #adhdawarenessmonth2023 #adhdexplained #HowToSupportPeopleLivingWithADHD
