A fire broke out in a government building in West Bengal, destroying 4,000 EVMs that were used in the recent assembly elections. This incident raises suspicion. Imagine that 4,000 EVMs used in the recent assembly elections were destroyed in a fire. Can this be just a coincidence, especially at a time when the Election Commission's impartiality is being questioned, when the Election Commission is openly lobbying for the BJP, sometimes by manipulating voter lists, sometimes through SIRs, and sometimes by cancelling the nomination of Congress candidates? At such a time, a fire in a government building, and that too in the same building where EVMs related to the recent elections were stored, does not seem to be just a coincidence. The government and the Election Commission should clarify how the fire started and how it reached the ninth or tenth floors.
