One thing I did these last few days was to use the manual focus more. That's because lenses like this don't use autofocus, so I'll have to be careful with it. Practice makes perfect in this case.

Low res cameras absolutely CAN give a "hair cut"; especially when the operator is just using autofocus, sometimes the camera can't capture small or low contrast areas. The edges blend into the background and look like a vague blur or shadow. But again, by all means, go for it 🤷‍♀️

The cheapest good macro lens with autofocus I know of is the Tamron 90mm f2.8 and that's $700. Might be able to find other options if you shop around, though.
