Green roads are essential to climate action and resilience.
The UN Decade of Sustainable Transport highlights that meeting global climate, resilience and biodiversity goals of the
@UNFCCC and the Kunming–Montreal Global Biodiversity Framework requires a decisive shift in how transport infrastructure is planned, built and operated.
Transport emissions must fall rapidly, while road infrastructure must also become biodiversity, habitat and ecosystem-sensitive, avoiding long-term environmental harm and supporting nature-positive outcomes.
At IRF, together with our partners, we are committed to advancing Green Roads that accelerate decarbonisation and resilience by enabling low-emission vehicles and fuels, using sustainable materials, applying whole-life carbon management frameworks and embedding biodiversity-sensitive planning through nature-based solutions.
