Tether reports 534.5 million holders of their stablecoins.
Tether's GENIUS Act approved USAt is minted by Anchorage Digital Bank in San Francisco. USAt collateral is made up of mostly US Treasury Bills in the custody of Cantor Fitzgerald in NY. That means Tether's fiduciary behavior is currently monitored by The Fed, The SEC, FDIC, Department of Treasury, and Financial Crimes Enforcement Network (FinCEN) within Treasury. I'm going to accept Tether's numbers.
I think @jeremiahrogers is making conservative estimates. So I'll round up his 165 million estimate to 200 million Bitcoin holders. That's less than half of Tether's users.
I foresee a significant clash soon arising around the rapidly growing institutional adoption of blockchain technology verses the sovereign individual ethos of Bitcoin culture. It appears to me that the Fiat Nation is already way ahead.
There are about 165 million UTXOs. You could discount that by 3-5x to count for people holding more than one UTXO, and then multiply 3-5x back if you count paper Bitcoin. So I would say 165m plus or minus 50%.
