Threw a pool party for my condo I and learned people are dying to connect with each other.
1.Every person there said they didn’t know a single neighbor.
2.The WhatsApp group I’d been posting in, most didn’t even know about it. We have renters and owners but the chat was started years ago for owners only.
3.My mail room signs for my get togethers weren’t seen because they said they rarely check their mail.
4.One man brought drinks for everyone and the cardiologist thanked me for doing this because he “wants to connect and would like to go for walks.”
5.Every person there wanted more community condo events and fun activities with people close by, they’ve just been waiting for someone to ask.
Flyers under doors next. I’m just getting started! I’ll report back.
My random condo pool party is tomorrow.
Here’s why I’m doing it: most of us pass each other every single day but don’t know each other well enough to knock and ask for a teaspoon of paprika.
If you live in a condo, an apartment, or even a regular neighborhood street, be the person who organizes something. It could be as simple as a group walk, a coffee meetup, a BBQ, a game night, or dinner somewhere local.
People will show up, I promise you. They’ve been waiting for someone to plan it. They just didn’t want to be the one to go first.
I’ll report back tomorrow.
