In commemoration of Nelson Mandela Day, the #CBE spent the day with the Pauline Podbrey Foundation at the @CTScienceCenter in a shared effort to inspire a love for maths and science among young learners. Led by CBE Council Member Ms. Snowy Makhudu and CFO Ms. Sarie Treeby, the #CBE team hosted 60 children from the Foundation as part of a STEM education initiative. As we commemorate #JusticeForJanitors Day this weekend, we remember the L.A janitors who peacefully protested for workplace improvements and were met with violence from the cops. For this year's #J4J, we're at the @CTScienceCenter - demanding justice for 5 displaced workers.

Today, our Hartford team held dual actions at 750 Main Street and @CTScienceCenter, on behalf of workers from both locations that were abruptly displaced in favor of non-union cleaning vendors. We will continue to fight for workers, and their right to earn a just and fair wage!

We filed an unfair labor practice charge against Burgos Cleaning Services for refusing to re-hire five cleaners at the @CTScienceCenter due to their union affiliation. Shame on Burgos and the Science Center for lowering standards!

The janitors, many of whom had dedicated years of service to keeping the @CTScienceCenter clean and welcoming for visitors, were left without jobs after a non-union contractor was hired starting the first week of January.

Today, @LGSusanB, @senatorduff, @joshforct, Councilman Joshua Michtom, 32BJ SEIU members and community supporters gathered in Hartford to demand justice for five cleaners who lost their jobs when the @CTScienceCenter changed cleaning contractors at the end of 2024.

Today, displaced workers protested in front of Hartford’s @CTScienceCenter, demanding justice after being abruptly terminated when the center hired a non-union cleaning vendor. These workers deserve to return to work so they can support their families and communities.

Today, we joined @CTForAll at the State Capitol for this year’s All Equity Agenda Launch. In addition to discussing this year’s priorities, we also spoke with elected officials like @Gary4CT about our ongoing efforts to seek justice for displaced workers at the @CTScienceCenter.
