It started here (45N 13E) on 10/6/26 but there is now a major PAINTED LADY (Vanessa cardui) invasion underway.
All "fresh-out-the-box" & nectaring / sunning, so they haven't come far.
No sign of another 2009 scale event as yet, but a heads-up for your lavenders.

Su un cespuglio di Lavanda (Lavandula angustifolia) ho visto che il vento di oggi tiene qui decine di farfalle migratrici, pronte poi a salire e passare le Alpi l; per riprodursi su foglie più morbide e fresche: sono tutte Vanesse del Cardo (Vanessa cardui)

Having seen only one in 2025 it is lovely to have a Painted Lady (Vanessa cardui) butterfly year again. This one photographed a week or so ago in the garden. @BedsNthantsBC
