Back in 2015, I interviewed at Republic Airways because I had my ATP written and they were hiring without the checkride. During the interview with the 20-something captain and HR lady, they asked about a stressful emergency.
I told them the story of my flight lead dragging us through a thunderstorm and we were both struck by lightning. He was incapacitated briefly and I helped talk him down from the wing, earning a NAM.
The young captain was awestruck. The HR lady? Launched into a commentary on how I could’ve handled it better. She was not a pilot.
She was quite surprised when she offered me the job a few days later and I respectfully declined.
fucking hilarious that HR people think they can judge technical people
