So from recent experience with @IndiGo6E if you don’t checkin, they auto check you in between 4 and 6 hours prior to the flight. There is NO rule to check in 24 hours prior.
This guy has exposed a trick of IndiGo Airlines.
He had a flight to Pune at 6:00 AM. He reached the airport on time, but his web check-in wasn't working.
At the counter, he was told that web check-in had to be completed at least 24 hours before departure.
By then, the flight was full.
Now his question is: if the number of tickets sold is equal to the number of seats available on the flight, how did someone else get his seat?
Are airlines selling more tickets than the number of seats available?
His second question is: if someone books a ticket just 4–5 hours before departure due to an emergency, how can they possibly complete web check-in 24 hours in advance?
Airlines can easily say they'll move passengers to another flight, but the passenger is the one who suffers — through lost time, mental stress, missed commitments, and urgent meetings.

Not at all true! Though I agree that airlines conduct may not be great but 24 hours prior web checkin isn't true. It's open till 2 hours before departure.

I have the utmost respect for people who manage their fitness routine while travelling. Even a 2hr flight with airport security checkin checkout can make people tired to not to do anything.
Posting this to appreciate those who maintain their fitness schedule amidst frequent and long travel and a routine 9-5.
Saying this as someone who used to lecture people on fitness while running an IT services company with US-only clients - which gave me the privilege of hitting the gym at 2 pm, the unsaid “luxury” hour - when the trainers train.
Last 2 years of crazy travel has been an eye opener. Ready to eat my words now.

Nope, i have done indigo web-checkin just 3-4 hours before departure . Even on indigo ticket it's mentioned, web-checkin will close 3 before departure. But web-checkin is still not mandatory
