They mock the "layabout" who goes out to sea with blank parchment to chart the rocks and currents instead of hauling in nets of codfish. That's the Anglo, that's the Saxon.

(He hurries out through the hall. The whores point. Florry follows, spilling water from her tilted tumbler. On the doorstep all the whores clustered talk volubly, pointing to the right where the fog has cleared off. From the left arrives a jingling hackney car. It slows to in front of the house. Bloom at the halldoor perceives Corny Kelleher who is about to dismount from the car with two silent lechers. He averts his face. Bella from within the hall urges on her whores. They blow ickylickysticky yumyum kisses. Corny Kelleher replies with a ghastly lewd smile. The silent lechers turn to pay the jarvey. Zoe and Kitty still point right. Bloom, parting them swiftly, draws his caliph’s hood and poncho and hurries down the steps with sideways face. Incog Haroun al Raschid he flits behind the silent lechers and hastens on by the railings with fleet step of a pard strewing the drag behind him, torn envelopes drenched in aniseed. The ashplant marks his stride. A pack of bloodhounds, led by Hornblower of Trinity brandishing a dogwhip in tallyho cap and an old pair of grey trousers, follows from far, picking up the scent, nearer, baying, panting, at fault, breaking away, throwing their tongues, biting his heels, leaping at his tail. He walks, runs, zigzags, gallops, lugs laid back. He is pelted with gravel, cabbagestumps, biscuitboxes, eggs, potatoes, dead codfish, woman’s slipperslappers. All I want is a high trust society where people can look at their neighbors without fear and anxiety without having to make $200K a year and move to the suburbs (like I did). It should be something everyone gets to experience. We don’t have to live like this. But in addition to having gutless, spineless codfish for politicians… We have too many people who value permissibility at the expense of stability and continuity. You can’t have your cake and eat it too. There are tradeoffs to everything. True Greed is when you think you can have it all… all at once… and lose nothing… It’s delusion.

Couldn't agree more with these two lines in particular, "None of this complicated. Our politicians are gutless, spineless, worthless codfish that pander to degenerates to retain their power…" The cleaning staff at our school always comments on how clean my room is when they arrive to clean it. That's because I don't allow my students to treat the room like someone else will clean up after them and so therefore allow them to do anything they want. Staying on top of the little things, helps prevent the big things.

🐟 Stop cooking codfish the same way. Watch this till the end 👀🇮🇹 Cherry tomatoes, extra virgin olive oil, smashed garlic, celery, a little chili, black olives… Then the codfish goes in and cooks gently for just 15 minutes. Soft, flavorful, Mediterr...

Hot take… nobody under 16 needs social media and yeah I don’t care. It’s not hurting their childhood to take it away, if anything it’s the opposite. No, they don’t need to be working or building a career on social media at 16… They need to be actual children… And not subjected to constant overstimulation… Commoditized with targeted content and advertisements… Talking with adults who never grew up… Fetishizing influencer culture.. And constantly over exposed to content meant for adults. None of this is a hot take… And you can talk about parenting all you want… But that’s been in the trash too because we also have gutless, spineless, codfish for politicians who refuse to give you a high trust society… Because they need votes from the most broken people in our society to stay in power and enrich themselves… So they can get as far away from the problems they create. Ban kids from social media… Put them in school longer and match the work schedule… Put them in school 255 days a year, no more long breaks… Enforce truancy and vagrancy laws… Put squad cars outside or schools to keep them safe, no more soft targets. Give them 3 fresh cooked meals per day (free) Good gutless politicians accountable and make them deliver a high trust society… We don’t have to live like this…

98% of the population passes through the public education system… We start by replicating much of what Japan does there, 255 days of school year round… no long breaks… 3 meals (free)… Social etiquette embedded in the fabric of every interaction. Longer school days marching work schedules. More clubs and extra curricular activities. Optional Saturday access to the school for clubs and resources. Then there is policing… 2x or 3x the police force presence, especially in low trust communities whether they like it or the optics are bad. Unapologetically tough on crime stuff and some version of stop and frisk that passes constitutional muster and screw the optics… Yes we have to criminalize street living and say screw the optics. Reinforce laws on vagrancy, truancy and loitering. Hold the line. Repeal all soft on crime shoplifting and looting legislation. Prosecute these heavily and say screw the optics… prosecute for $50 … not kidding. Higher penalties and fines did littering starting at $150… Higher fines and arrest rates for public disturbances and drunk and disorderly conduct. Repeal all recreational drug use legislation. Mass production and expansion of single occupancy public stall restrooms in cities. None of this complicated. Our politicians are gutless, spineless, worthless codfish that pander to degenerates to retain their power… And this is why we need age limits and term limits… so they don’t have a reward for their cowardice…
