The SSPX know that what they are doing is wrong.
Their intentions may be good, but their approach is misguided.
Consecrating bishops without the approval of the Vicar of Christ is contrary to the Church's discipline, and we all know this. The Church has established rules that are meant to safeguard unity and order, and these should be respected.
The SSPX remain in an irregular canonical situation. While many of their members sincerely desire to preserve Catholic tradition, good intentions do not justify disobedience to the Church's lawful authority.
The Holy Father has extended an olive branch to the SSPX, yet they seem unwilling to fully embrace reconciliation. Continued disobedience only wounds the unity of the Church.
Vatican II is here to stay. It is part of the Church's living Magisterium and is not going anywhere.
As Catholics, we are called to remain faithful to Sacred Tradition, Sacred Scripture, and the Magisterium of the Church, not to set them against one another.
Pope Leo XIV issued an appeal to the Society of Saint Pius X (SSPX), urging them to halt their plans to consecrate four new bishops on July 1st without a papal mandate. Speaking to journalists, the Pontiff expressed deep regret over the impending rifts but firmly underscored the Vatican's stance on unity, pleading: "Do not do this, let us try to live in communion in the Church." The Pope lamented that the group continues to reject fundamental tenets of the Church—particularly key reforms established during the Second Vatican Council—concluding that while the division is incredibly painful, the choice ultimately rests with them and the Church must move forward.

Seriously, what would it take for the SSPX to listen to the Holy Father and do what is right???
Why are they insisting on consecrating new bishops without the approval of the Pope?? Where is this done?
They're being rebellious! And this is so wrong.
