You have to understand something fundamental about Trump: in his world, there are two types of people: heavy hitters and losers. Heavy hitters usually have money or power. To him, Russia is a heavy hitter because they have nukes and power. Ukraine, on the other hand, is a loser because they're needy and need our help. So Russia must be respected and listened to, and Ukraine should be treated like an annoyance, and be put back in its place. Similarly, to Trump, Qatar and the Gulf states are heavy hitters because they have money, and can even gift him a 747, and pay his sons, daughter, and son in law. So, they should be listened to and respected. Israel, on the other hand, is a loser who needs our help and has nothing to offer us. So, it should be shunned and be treated with contemp like an annoyance who gets in the way of great financial "deals." This is the dynamic you're witnessing in real time.
