what are you doing with your workstation, thats first and foremost important 395 works for some, mac works for some, doesn't work for others who might need a mobile dgpu in a thicker workstation/gaming laptop there are many cases a mobile 5090 or a modern quadro is better

they serve an important purpose providing high performance in a desktop-replacement formfactor aged now and in question thanks to modern arm processors and apu's but its not magic, sustained performance the more portable thin and lights lose out vs a laptop with a dgpu

Yep NPU is just 2024 AI hype fad. If I want to do Copilot AI task (I don't), I have an NVidia dGPU for it that has 1000x more FLOPs.

Day 1 of installing Linux on NV laptop ended in rage quitting. Day 2 Im back to trying it from first principles: no sddm. Manual config for everything. X11 supports “Zaphod” where I can have 2 separate x displays (dGPU and iGPU) each direct driving different monitors. Trying now
