The current biggest Asian band in the world and the Kings of the Modern Era, BTS turns 13 as of 13 June 2026.
Debuted with No More Dream with the formerly named BigHit Entertainment, BTS is the reason BigHit became one of the most valuable and powerful entertainment companies in the world with the majority of the economy from entertainment coming from BTS.
Over the 13 years, BTS secured several Billboard Hot 100 #1 spots, numerous international awards, several American awards, a Grammy nomination, platinum album certifications, Guinness world record achievements, and several more accolades that are too big to fit. BTS was also compared to the legendary rock band, The Beatles.
BTS is one of the rarest groups to have remain a fully active seven member group for this long, with the ARMY fandom ensuring the world knows that it’s “7-1=0”. Even during their 3 year hiatus, the fans stayed committed, attending every tour that members performed solo during their military hiatus.
BTS is also one of the rare only groups to have consistently sold out every single overseas tour they have hosted since Episode II: The Red Bullet, credited to being the Sold Out Kings. With their newest tour, ARIRANG, this will become the biggest Asian tour of all time with over 5 million tickets sold in less than a year. They were the first group ever to hold worldwide stadium tours to counties such as Europe.
BTS are the Kings of the Modern Era because they are the sole reason, K-Pop was able to thrive and break through the Western market during the 2010s, getting U.S. labels more interested in investing with K-pop artists, and hit mainstream stream on radio stations, thus being credited for paving the way, as before this period, it was still a niche genre, being more difficult for K-artists without global reach to break into the western market against competing western stars. BTS made this possible, finally breaking the glass, making it little easier for K-pop stars to thrive in the market.
BTS celebrates their 13th anniversary with ARMYs at the sold out Busan Asiad Main Stadium.
