So many defections that TMC and APP, have started to look like small feeder parties to BJP!!
What I hear: after Sayoni Ghosh’s move to the rebel camp was confirmed and Firhad Hakim initiated outreach to the rebels, the RSS in West Bengal has reportedly conveyed its displeasure to both the state government and the BJP’s Bengal unit through the state General Secretary (Organisation). The concerns were later communicated to the national General Secretary (Organisation).
The objections, as I understand them, are:
1) Why did the Chief Minister personally meet the rebel MLAs outside the framework of an official administrative engagement?
2) If the Delhi outreach was part of a separate political strategy, why was the Chief Minister present in that meeting?
3) The RSS, which played a key role in grassroots Hindu mobilisation during the 2026 Bengal Assembly election, is reportedly unhappy with the BJP’s association with several leaders, including Sayoni Ghosh, who have allegedly made derogatory remarks against Hindu deities and the Hindu community in the past.
4) There are also reported objections to the inclusion of certain Muslim lawmakers from districts such as Murshidabad, with allegations that some had played roles, directly or indirectly, during the Murshidabad riots.
5) With Bengal BJP president Shamik Bhattacharya reportedly unwell, meetings involving BJP MPs and the Chief Minister have, I hear, been put on hold.1)
