Meg has better things to do than deal with 500 hours worth of FOI's and threats to officers. That's their internal calculation. They simply don't have the money to deal with it. Add in the political pressure of it as well and you have a perfect storm.....

Yes we are sure that is good news for Devon.
But if we want Exeter to be active we need to do stuff that makes roads safe.
As we always remind people, things like the Active Streets Trial are not there for keen cyclists.

True.
All the hard work and investment to get us this far. Reduction in car traffic already happening despite the wet winter (hidden by increase in cars pouring into the city from outside). Trends are going in the right direction.
Adapt, don't stop the trial.

We've not seen published in the reports pack (1) the written report from the Road Safety officer approving this increase in road danger (did this get omitted?) (2) the recent EqIA that is used as the entire justification for withdrawing a successful scheme.

Is this is removed then through traffic will pour back onto unclassified roads & increase road danger for pedestrians 6fold. Just two zebra crossings can cost Β£240k -the same budget that's delivering whole area traffic reduction & calm streets for children & elderly.

The more we look at latest Active Streets Trial data, the more success we find.
In January 2024 @DevonCC signed off Exeter LCWIP.
The E3 route linking City 2 Cranbrook was ranked 2nd for investment & impact out of 20 routes.

I rode out to watch a @DevonToB stage once. Race went by and I got on my bike continuing to ride the stage behind the race.
Some minutes later 2 Euskatel Euskadi riders joined me. Briefly I was riding with some pro's in a race. π

Local amateur rides up the Muur during the Omloop, says he was running late, rushed to the race, was allowed on the course and didn't realise he was between groups of racers nieuwsblad.be/cnt/dmf2024022β¦ (π³π±)
