Cowboys TLDR
It was far too polarizing of a Jekyll and Hyde opening week for us to use it to forecast the immediate future, but it’s more than safe for a little
#DallasCowboys Stock Up/Stock Down.

Stock Down 📉
🔹CeeDee — Dude. That was flat out weird. 3 or 4 drops from 88? You certainly don’t ever expect to see that. Kind of like that Bill Belichick/Jordan Hudson pic of them frolicking on the beach. He’s 73. She’s 24. He’s holding her up with his legs and she’s doing some sort of acrobatic ‘Rose from the front of the Titanic’ pose. You see bizarre anomalies like that and you file it away in a brain folder labeled “things I’ll never see again”.
CeeDee is a monster. Flush this dropfest and move on.
🔹Matt Eberflus — WTF was Eberflus doing in the 1st half? He was delusional if he thought his front 4 was going to be able to get pressure by themselves. It’s almost like he drew up his strategy for this game before the trade.
No pressure and no apparent spy on Jalen Hurts, who looked FAR more ready to run than throw — all night.
For as clueless as Eberflus looked in the first half, he cleaned it up after the lengthy weather delay. Finally, he started bringing pressure via the blitz and stacking things up in the box. They were GREAT from that point forward against Saquon.
Just makes you wonder why the initial game flame was so terrible. And as long as we can count on a huge, random one-hour weather delay in every game, we should be able to make the necessary adjustments moving forward.
🔹Jerry — Flat out, they missed Micah in this game. Despite all the praise for their depth on the edge, they couldn’t get any pressure just bringing 4 guys. Hurts had all day in the pocket.
Too many times with this roster, everyone on earth but the hot dog boys from Arkansas can see the glaring weaknesses. And when roster deficiencies are already staring you right in the face in week 1 — it makes you wonder why they weren’t addressed in the offseason.
🤷🏻♂️ Elite Edge: Welp, we know why this wasn’t addressed in the offseason — because it was a self-inflicted last-minute hand grenade thrown into the bunker by Jerryclaus.
While there’s plenty to like about 4 or even 5 of their edge rushers, none of them are ready to wreck games like Micah. None of them at this point have DC’s unable to sleep the night before a game. It’s certainly possible that Sam Williams, Marshawn Kneeland or Donovan Ezeiruaku blossom and develop into being elite someday down the road, but that’s just not the case right now. They HAD elite — and Jerry traded him away 5 minutes before the season started because he let his money get mad.
🤷🏻♂️ DT: Kenny Clark is awesome and had an immediate impact. They are significantly better when he’s on the field. That said, they were about to start another season without doing near enough to address their extreme deficiencies at DT. It took trading their absolute best player right before the season started to find a suitable starter next to Osa? You had all off-season to address this. Why didn’t you? Thumbs up for Clark, but he’ll soon turn 30. Meanwhile, your 1st round bust (Mazi) was a healthy scratch. Clark helps but for how long? Feels like DT depth will once again be a massive need this offseason.
🤷🏻♂️ Elite RB: Javonte Williams was fine. I think he’d make a very suitable backup. He ran tough. I think I read where 27 running backs will be paid more than Williams this year, which lets you know that the Cowboys front office did not value using limited resources at RB. Granted, you can’t have a highly paid superstar at every position. In next year’s draft the Cowboys need to target an explosive bell-cow running back in the first 3 rounds — and at that point, I’d feel great about Williams being behind him. Although Miles Sanders had the biggest play of the night, he also made Eagles linebacker Zack Baun look like Usain Bolt by getting absolutely fetched. Then he fumbled the game away. I prefer Jaydon Blue.
