Michael Mensah, a 39-year-old teacher and driver, has been arrested by the Ghana Police in connection with the tragic murder of 20-year-old University of Cape Coast student Innocentia Atsufui Avinu.
Investigators revealed that Mensah picked up the Level 200 student from her hostel area on June 11 and drove her to Hutchland Beach, where her body was discovered the following morning.
While authorities await an autopsy to confirm the exact cause of death, the case has sparked widespread emotional responses, including mourning from her scholarship sponsor, MP Eric Edem Agbana, and strong condemnation from public figures like actress Lydia Forson over early media coverage deemed as victim-blaming.
BREAKING 🚨: Police Arrest Suspect in Murder of UCC Student
The Ghana Police Service has arrested 39-year-old Michael Mensah in connection with the murder of University of Cape Coast student, Innocentia Atsufui Avinu.
The suspect was apprehended at Pedu Lorry Station in Cape Coast following intelligence-led operations by the IGP’s Cyber Vetting and Enforcement Team.
Preliminary investigations indicate that he allegedly picked up the deceased from the UCC hostel enclave on June 11 and took her to Hutchland Beach, where she was last seen.
