Nah endnotes in infinite jest are famously super optional
Wait this shit has endnotes? I hate endnotes. Do I actually have to read them?

This is absolutely excellent. It makes many of the cases and facts I have in my column and here, but it does so so much more sharply than I ever could. Read it and don't click off the endnotes! D.A. NYC 🗽 samharris.substack.com/p/why…

Oxfords are better, more modern, extensive endnotes too I bet? (Maybe these Pengs have endnotes, I forget)

My original remarks were said in jest (hah). I hate endnotes because they literally take me out of the text and in all honestly I don't understand what they're in service of (granted I'm still very early on in the book)

x.com/CaroleParkes1/status/1… #FamilyHistory buffs interested in #Lancashire life should delve into this #autobiography. It has several pages of endnotes relating to the people and places mentioned in the book. #memoirs #FamilyHistoryEndNotes myBook.to/WPier

Yes you will want a bookmark for the endnotes section. Some people cut the book in two.

Yeah, the closest I can come to an alternative method is reading a chapter, then the endnotes from that chapter. But even that seems risky. Two bookmark method is the way to go. I needed three at one point.

After you’re done with the book, endnotes and all, reread the first chapter. You’ll notice some things you didn’t pick up on before

Can’t in this case. Many of the most important endnotes go on for 5—20 pages, e.g. a filmography, a conversation b/w two brothers, a narrative of a student plagiarizing his term paper on a topic that becomes relevant to the plot a few hundred pages later, and so on

Just pretend they’re part of the main text…? What is your specific issue with endnotes, the prose is largely the same as for the rest of the book. Also how did u not know this it’s kinda the most iconic thing about the book

Not sure if this is a joke but they are an integral part if the text. Don't read the book if you aren't gonna read the endnotes and the footnotes for the endnotes.

Starting Rockhill's book, and i will say it has the virtue of using footnotes instead of endnotes.

In this case some of the endnotes are pages long. Also the back and forth is partly intended to mimic the movement in tennis.
