I learnt from Bernard Williams, thah beliefs are truth propositions. Meaning not objective. But when we accept these truth propositions, then it becomes a fact. If it becomes fact, then it can still be subjective to relativism.
But how this relativism, occurs?
Not from a standalone independent fact that we accept as reality, but the cognitive state of mind, thinking it otherwise. Basically consciousness.
Cut things short:
If you choose not to accept a truth proposition, your mind will naturally move into one of four states:
Disbelief: You actively reject the proposition. You conclude that the claim is false.
Suspension of Judgment: You remain completely neutral. You acknowledge you lack enough evidence to say yes or no.
Skepticism: You question the validity of the claim. You actively go look for flaws or verification.
Agnosticism: You decide that the truth of the proposition is completely unknowable right now.
