Otto is home and resting. We picked up pizza, spent time as a family, and then got kids in bed.
Otto's eyes appeared normal without issue during the procedure so they didn't end up doing the laser. I want to clarify that as much as we wish this could have been vision correcting laser surgery, it was not that. This was a procedure to address his FEVR which is part of his CTNNB1 genetic disorder. What has been explained to us is that this portion is a childhood illness where the blood vessels in his retina will swell and then leak/seep out, hopefully on the most peripheral portion of his vision and if left alone, the body will try to "repair " this which it cannot do well so the leak will move up the line until it is impacting his main portion of the retina and as the body "repairs" it will scar his eye and he will lose that section of his vision. So the plan was to laser off the leaking ones to stop that progression from happening hopefully.
Thankfully that is not happening in his eyes yet. We will continue to pray that it doesn't happen and if it is found that we are able to stop the progression quick enough to preserve most of his eyesight. This is an issue we will have to continually check up on until at least age 10 or longer.
We are so grateful that our little boy is lethargic but happy and back home, sleeping soundly in his bed right now.
Thank you for all of the prayers our prayer warriors. God is good and He was in the room today! Ryan Brown
Video is of our silly boy's newest trick that he "enjoys" doing sticking his thumb in the side of his eye and pushing on his eyeball. Ugh! Yuck! But FUNNY!
