Today’s economic diplomacy took us to the Sundeep Group here in Luanda. This visit has been in the making since FILDA 2025, when a conversation at the trade fair opened a door. FILDA is Angola’s most successful trade fair and show. Today, Mr. Banda and I walked through that door and spent time at the Sundeep Group facilities, where we were received by Mr. Mauro Fortunato. Sundeep Group has been operating in Angola since 1999. They are in the salt refining and food products business, and what they have built over more than two decades is a serious and growing operation with clear regional ambitions. The conversation we had today was the kind I find most energising in this work. Practical. Grounded. Focused on what is actually possible between two neighbouring countries that have not yet traded with each other at the level they should. Angola has salt. Zambia has maize. Those two facts alone open the door to a mutually beneficial commercial relationship that serves both countries. Add to that the Lobito Corridor, which is progressively making the movement of goods between Angola and Zambia faster and cheaper, and you begin to see the full picture of what this partnership could look like. We are following up. We have written to the Zambia Development Agency. We have extended an invitation to the company to participate in the Zambia-Angola Business Forum. And we have committed to a follow-up meeting in two months to review progress. This is how trade relationships are built. One conversation at a time. One visit at a time. One connection at a time.
