Long ago, I visited an old cemetery and came upon the grave of a woman who died in the 1880’s. Around her were lovely remembrances that read “Beloved Mother;” “Loving Wife;” etc. This woman’s epitaph read “She Had a Burning Hatred for Millard Fillmore.” What a way to be remembered for all eternity!!

The trail got built but no one seems to call it the Long Branch Trail anymore. Most places call it the Fillmore Park Trail. And there are no signs of the larger "bikeway" either.

The County Board approved it anyway. The trail ended at 3rd street but was part of a "Long Branch Bikeway" that continued on Fillmore, 4th, Jackson, 6th, Lincoln, 8th, the Maury School property (now the Arlington Museum of Contemporary Art), Monroe and 10th to the Central Library
