Grandma complains that a monumental moment of her life was taken? Most grandmothers recognize that motherhood is the most monumental moment in her daughter’s life and not whine that she was excluded from her daughter’s birth experience. I have never asked my own adult kids to be present at their births. I was asked by my daughter with her first but with her second I was more helpful staying with her firstborn.

I don't disagree w/ any of that. But a glass of champagne on New Year's isn't going to ruin your health. Neither is a cigar w/ the boys while celebrating your firstborn. Taking care of my body is important but not my religion. Enjoy life- you only get one.
