Admissions professionals have always been acutely aware of the value of standardized test scores combined with secondary GPAs as predictors of first-semester UG GPA. But they have to play the hand they’re dealt.

The University of Alabama does not have the chops of UVA, but GPA wise an impressive incoming class. Similarly, they don’t require ACT/ACT which bothers me as an alumnus. Can you really trust GPAs in this era?

Current GPAs go as high as 6.0. So, there's that.

Meaningless in isolation. But meaningful when read in context of individual sec. school and in relation to courses taken and extracurricular demands. Professionals in admissions at the highly selective universities know how to read GPAs, especially from top-tier high schools.

Notice not one White kid. Colleges like Stanford have become a joke and minorities with “4.0” GPAs from urban high schools are getting into elite colleges. The equivalent GPA of a person in a White area of 2.0 is a brown or black person having a highly dubious GPA of 4.0. These colleges need to be shut down.

Calm down It’s evidence of the proliferation of AP tests and weighted GPAs Maybe learn before typing

Why else would people with lower scores and gpas get in to colleges. What’s the other factor? Why are you coping like this isn’t known.

These dots are unrelated. I grow weary of explaining that these stats are unrelated. So you can look up the average GPA of people who apply to go to college by race, but you can't prove they got in over others BECAUSE of race. Student Athletes exist. When I asked you to cite the study that proves that black applicants with lower GPAs get accepted at higher rates than non black students with higher GPAs, you failed to do so. I am familiar with the MCAT study that does demonstrate that claim but the differences are marginal. 3.88 and 3.73 GPAs were some of the Black Averages vs 3.91 to 4.0 for Asians and Whites. Both are in the higher percentile. Not truly indicative of discrimination. What you are doing is seeing all these different studies in your head and crafting a narrative that you haven't actually proven.

You're not proving the black people who go to college have lower GPAs than the nonblacks who get admitted. What about this is not clear to you?

The fact they have lower gpas and sats and are getting into college at 3x their population rate is proof. jbhe.com/news_views/47_black…

You didn't prove they're getting with lower GPAs dumbass

This data doesn't have anything to do with your case. You need to prove that the black students being let in have substantially lower GPAs than the other students. Finding average high school GPA by race doesn't prove anything because you don't know if those are the same people going to the colleges. You have to actually PROVE things, not find unrelated stats and make assumptions, I know that's hard, but that's why making claims without proof is frowned upon.

SAT scores aren't the same as usual grades. GPAs get weighed as well, it's entirely feasible someone is a weak test taker but has good grades. Colleges account for things like that.

I'm pretty sure I do. One of our "MAGAs" is a trillionaire. You ding bats are always begging for school loans to be paid because you did not chose wisely. And the BASE of Democrats are in blue cities and just look at the GPAs coming out of Blue City schools.

That thug didn’t take the stand because it opens up a can of worms and his defense knew it. The prosecution would’ve told many stories about him causing much trouble in school. Karmelo was NOT a good student. High schools give black students great GPAs so they can get into Uni’s

The bar isn't high; admissions office is flying blind. Without SAT/ACT the only other option is admit 4.0. Columbia data shows non-submitters (70% of student body) have lowest GPAs at graduation.
