Today, I spent my afternoon canvassing 192 doors in Woodbine, Glenelg, and Lisbon. We walked over 10.26 miles and took 23,322 steps. This brings our canvassing total to 4,720 doors in District 9A.
The residents of Western Howard County are truly remarkable and some of the kindest individuals I have encountered while door-knocking. One gentleman graciously invited me into his living room to discuss our connections to Montgomery and Howard County, while another offered me a ride down his lengthy driveway.
My constituents mean the world to me. It breaks my heart to hear stories from families struggling to cope with the $1.6 billion tax increase proposed by Tax Moore. It is painful to listen to families share their experiences of being among the 4,000 residents in Howard County who lost power and lights for hours, all while facing overwhelming BGE bills.
Law enforcement officers have been under attack in Maryland for years. The legislature repealed the Law Enforcement Offices Bill of Rights (LEOBR), which has led to large vacancies and attrition in MCPD and HCPD. My opponents are anti-law enforcement and support such measures, which is why Calvin Ball and Marc Elrich, who are also anti-law enforcement, support them.
If MDDEMS and my opponents had their way, they would convert every farm, agricultural property, and equestrian land into solar farms and Thrive 2050-style housing units. Schools in rural areas, such as Glenelg High School, require capacity relief; Damascus High School has gone without renovation for 50 years, leaving students exposed to mold; and Centennial High School in Ellicott City, which serves nearby rural communities, is in urgent need of renovation.
Opponents have overlooked these pressing issues. They consistently support Governor Tax Moore and the MDDEMS, who demonstrate a clear disregard for rural voters. Here is how I stand apart: I grew up in the vicinity of rural communities. I also have great respect for law enforcement officers like Officer Maverick, who guided me when he served as my school resource officer.
In Annapolis, I will prioritize the needs of District 9A voters, deliver substantial tax relief for middle-class families, and reduce utility costs to ease the financial burden of living in Maryland. I will also work to reinstate the Law Enforcement Officers' Bill of Rights (LEOBR) and ensure adequate funding to enhance school infrastructure in District 9A!
It is time to bring effective governance and common sense to Maryland. Vote for Fitzgerald Mofor and Spencer Rhoda for District 9A in the Maryland House of Delegates!
