THIS— No supplement, especially one still being researched, should be used as an adjunct to intoxication. This is a backwards, self-abusive and ultimately self-defeating gambit.
I’d also say that the same applies to, say 5-HTP and MDMA in a rather different capacity. pre-loading and post-loading seem to bring on (at the very least) the beginnings serotonin syndrome more often than not, when used by the green/uninitiated redditor as an ‘enhancer’ or ‘potentiator.’ (or, worse even, a mitigating harm-reduction tool… -shudder-)
Also something to note, all our information on this is w/ acet OD's. For alcohol, it's a lot more murkier, pretreatment w/ NAC protected against acute ethanol induced liver damage, but post treatment worsened it. Also in the limited studies we have w/ anything other than acet, one also showed patients w/ alcohol hepatitis had no benefit in adding NAC. We only have 12 RCT's. More research is needed. The first ever well-powered multi-site double-blind RCT to properly assess NAC's effectiveness on liver disease from alcohol use is only just being conducted now.
