Please distinguish prescription fentanyl, which is safe and effective when prescribed appropriately for severe, constant pain, from illicit fentanyl/fentalogues, which are unregulated and often found in counterfeit pills.
This distinction is critical to avoid stigmatizing patients suffering from severe pain in the context of serious illnesses.

That shifts the risk for responsibility from harms of under-treated pain from them to you! Tell your patient to use a different pharmacy that will fill the medically appropriate quantity for sufficient pain relief.
