New York is spending $81,705 per homeless person
That number doesn't include supportive housing, mental health response teams and more
This year New York expects this to increase to $97,000 per homeless person. Spending has tripled since 2019, and in New York City's case, yet the homeless population grew 26%
It’s NGO money laundering
They aren’t the only ones, I went over comprehensive data on California spending:
Cumulative spending from 2019–2025 was $24 billion to $37 billion spent over 5–6 years, with homelessness counts around 151,000–187,000
This means the spending was roughly $130,000–$245,000 per homeless person
