Chapter 23 - Ramachandra and Lakshmana reach the hermitage of Kama
At dawn, Sage Vishvamitra awakened Rama and Lakshmana, who performed their morning prayers and accompanied him to the confluence of the Sarayu and Ganga rivers.
There they came upon a sacred hermitage and asked about its history. Vishvamitra explained that it was associated with Kama, who had once attempted to disturb the meditation of Shiva and was reduced to ashes by Shiva’s third eye, becoming known as Ananga, the bodiless one. The region where this occurred became known as Anga.
The sage decided to spend the night there. The resident ascetics warmly welcomed Vishvamitra, Rama, and Lakshmana, offered them hospitality, and engaged them in spiritual discussions. The princes spent the evening performing their devotions and resting in the holy hermitage.
