something so sick about the โfakeโ filter keytracking inherently baked into the playback speed of samples. every time something jumps up an octave and it thins the fuck out and that hiss kicks in it makes me so happy i know that we all think this but i just had to say it

Actually I think it's probably a pretty simple keytracking set to Serum's formant filter, so - the opposite of what people are saying in this thread. :D It's definitely just one patch. (It might be something else there.) @francispreve probably knows esp as it's Serum.

Oh trust me it's a Render xD i think i know how to do it also and it's a really cool process of combinding real footage remapping in the engine then either keyframe or using a keytracking on it it's an extremely creative idea he came up with ngl

thats sick but for some reason i just cant seem to get into minimal's version of keytrack modulation, i cant figure out what it is about it but i just much prefer the way vital and phaseplant do keytracking :/

did a crude test in serum lol
sub osc plays fundamental, osc a plays 2nd and 3rd harmonic 30 cents up, osc b plays 4th and 5th harmonic 60 cents up.
note# (just keytracking) is mapped to global fine tune so the harmonics line up a little bit better when playing octaves
basically i would like to experiment with emulating the inharmonicity of strings, like in a piano
ALT According to one research result (Young, 1952), stretch is caused by inharmonicity due to the stiffness of strings. Ideal mathematical strings have zero stiffness. Stiffness is what is called an extrinsic property โ it depends on the dimensions of the wire. If this explanation is correct, then stretch must also be extrinsic. Given the same type of steel, the wire is stiffer if it is fatter or shorter. One consequence of this dependence on stiffness is an increase in the frequency with harmonic mode number; i.e., the wire appears stiffer to harmonics with shorter wavelengths. Stiffer wires vibrate faster because they have an extra restoring force, in addition to the string tension. This inharmonicity from stiffness has been calculated to within several percent accuracy so that the theory appears to be sound, and this single mechanism appears to account for most of the observed stretch

nobody knows how powerful this synth actually is. being able to change the mod x and mod y in the velocity window, different color notes note sliding without interfering with eachother, 8 voice super saw in the last tab, as well as keytracking and arp. its just too good

i finally understood this w/vital by mapping a keytracking lfo to the pitch of a wavetable - the shape of the lfo is functionally the waveform of the modulator. mapping to volume instead gets you AM and to phase gets you phase modulation (what serum & vital call FM) ๐
