🚨 William Saliba has opened up about the loss of his mother in 2019, shortly after joining Arsenal. 💔
🗣️ Saliba: "I had cost €30M and found myself playing with the U23s. It was difficult. My morale was really low because I knew that even if I trained well, I wasn't going to play.
"With the loss of my mother, nothing was going right. Everything was hard. She was everything to me and, thankfully, I had great people around me. It was the worst year of my life."
Atef Konaté, a close friend of Saliba, added:
🗣️ Atef Konaté: "William never went to the coach to tell him that he had lost the most important person in his life.
"Partly because he didn't speak English very well at the time, but mainly because he kept telling me: 'If I have to play, it won't be out of pity.'"
An incredibly difficult period in his life. ❤️🇫🇷
