Album Review Liym Capital, Sicksiah & The 17th Cipher - It’s Dark and Dawn Is Bright open.spotify.com/album/1SHGJ… Liym Capital is an artist from Atlanta, Georgia and one that I’ve been catching verses from all over the place. Its Dark and Dawn Is Bright is Liyms album from 2025, in collaboration with the producer Sicksiah and the hardest worker in the underground, Harmoni Equity aka The 17th Cipher. An album I knew wouldn’t let me down, and I was right! Ticket is the first song and one that I caught for my Crack The Concrete series, a great song and strong opener to Its Dark and Dawn Is Bright. “I ain’t had a day off, ever since they told me I’ve been laid off”, a line that’s stuck with me since I first heard Ticket and is how Liym Capital kicks off the album. Bet It Back is more luxurious and upbeat as Liym tells about the better days, while acknowledging there’s dark times too and he’s been through that as well. Compassion might be my favorite song on It’s Dark and Dawn Is Bright. The beat is heavy and Liym Capital digs deep lyrically as he always does. The sample in the back singing out is beautiful yet haunting, while Liyms second verse has doubled up vocals that grabs you and doesn’t let go. Forrest Gump is the last of the darker tracks on the album and another favorite, but Dawn Is Bright and songs like Send That Chicken, See It Through & Everyday Is War all reflect that. Send That Chicken features Rique Wit Da Wickz on the hook and both he and Liym Capital chop it up over the luxurious production. A song I like but the hook I was a bit mixed on. See It Through has a more R&B vibe that’s really great and Liym sounds perfect over the production style. And Everyday Is War blends the serious sound with the luxurious styles and delivers a dope track to end the album on. Like I said, Liym has been showing and proving across features and solo tracks I’ve caught and felt confident in a full project from him. But he still had to deliver, and he did. Sicksiahs production was fitting for Liym and The 17th Cipher added their magic touch to complete the trifecta. If you haven’t heard Liym Capital then now’s the time to tune in!
