"it's anti-art to not engage with games in the way devs intended" is a slippery slope because modding, speedruns, and piracy are also generally not what the dev's intended, is that not somewhat the appeal of games as an artform?
I can understand the surface level desire to have people you share your interests with, but that element should never supercede what the developer intended with their works. That, in my opinion, ignoring what the dev intended, is truly anti-art.
