Hard to believe it has been 6 years since COVID, and just as wild to realize 6 more years have passed in the music industry.
I took time to look at how many artists debuted between 1990 and 1996. The list is crazy. These rappers and R&B acts practically define both genres.
What does that tell us?
A lot of talent today is getting lost in the rush to just put music out, with little room for real artistic development or for records to actually grow.
This has killed both genres.
Younger generations should not confuse visibility with greatness or speed with mastery.
Talent is not new, the foundation was already laid, and believing you are automatically better than those who came before you is how you miss the lessons that actually make you great.
Salute to the legends who debuted thrived will all this amazing competition.
The blueprint is still there. We just have to choose to follow it.
Tag anyone I missed.
