Honestly, at this moment, I do not support protests in Northern Nigeria.
We Northerners need to understand that our region already faces serious security challenges. Security agencies are still struggling to fully protect lives and properties in many areas, so how can they effectively control massive crowds during a protest?
How will they guarantee the safety of people, protect businesses, and prevent loss of lives and property during such gatherings?
We have seen protests before, what did they bring apart from loss of lives, destruction of property, disruption of daily activities, and hardship for innocent people trying to earn a living?
Instead of taking to the streets, I believe we should focus more on using social media to amplify our voices and pass our message. Social media gives us the opportunity to reach millions, create awareness, and demand accountability without exposing people to unnecessary danger.
A strong message does not always need violence or street protests to be heard. Sometimes, strategic engagement, unity, and consistent advocacy online can achieve more with fewer risks.
Let us think wisely and choose methods that will protect our people while still making our voices heard.
