Traffic update:
Colorado State Patrol is investigating two separate multi-vehicle crashes that happened within minutes of each other Tuesday morning on northbound Interstate 25 near mileposts 245 and 246.
The first crash happened around 7:41 a.m. near milepost 245 and involved a Dodge Ram 2500 hauling a skid steer trailer, a GMC Yukon, an Acura MDX, and a Toyota Tacoma. A female passenger in the Yukon was transported to a hospital with unknown injuries.
Troopers identified the Ram driver as 24-year-old Luis Meraz Terrazas. He was cited for careless driving causing injury, operating a vehicle with expired license plates, and operating an unregistered vehicle.
About 16 minutes later, a second crash occurred roughly a mile farther north near milepost 246. Investigators initially believed only three vehicles were involved, but later determined a fourth vehicle, described as a gray Ford SUV with possible front-end damage, may also have been part of the collision.
All vehicles involved in the second crash were reportedly moved off the roadway within about 10 minutes.
Colorado State Patrol is asking anyone with information about the second crash to contact investigators at 303-239-4501 and reference case number 3A261019.
