It's Flintlock Friday. I bought this longrifle off the used gun rack 18 years ago at Dixon's Muzzleloading Shop. It's actually a Dixie Gun Works Tennessee Mountain Rifle that was reworked into a Lancaster-style rifle by gunsmith George L. Dech. He kept the barrel, lock, triggers, and ramrod but restocked it in curly maple. He also turned the barrel to about 2/3 round so it balances better than the original full octagon. The barrel is 41" long. It's .50 caliber with a 1:56 rifling twist for patched round balls.

The two you posted are probably two of the rarest models. The first is a pinfire variant (although the shotgun barrel was still muzzleloading). The head-on image is of a post-war centerfire variant. I always thought a modern design would make a fun range toy.
