FreeBSD Foundationが、AIを活用して脆弱性を発見する「AI-Assisted Vulnerability Discovery Project」を開始した。6カ月間のプロジェクトで、FreeBSDのソースコードに存在する脆弱性の発見と修正を進める。 この取り組みはLinux FoundationのAlpha Omegaプロジェクトから25万ドルの助成を受けて実施される。FreeBSD Security Teamが公開AIモデルを利用して脆弱性の発見や分析を行うが、修正パッチは人手で作成するとしている。 FreeBSD Foundationによると、近年はAIを活用した脆弱性調査が進み、FreeBSDでもAI支援ツールによる脆弱性報告が増加しているという。 プロジェクトではまずFreeBSDカーネルを対象に調査を行い、その後ベースシステムやPortsツリーへ範囲を拡大する。また、脆弱性報告のトリアージ自動化やファジング機能の改善も対象に含まれる。 Netflix、NetApp、Verisignなどが検証や分析で協力するほか、Ruby、Node.js、PHPなどでも同様の取り組みが進められている。 freebsdfoundation.org/blog/f…
