"The four most infuential moderns: Darwin, Marx, Freud, and (the productive) Einstein were scholars but not academics. It has always been hard to do genuine—and nonperishable—work within institutions." - Nassim Nicholas Taleb in The Bed of Procrustes amazon.com/gp/product/198481…

I began stocking up on nonperishable food during Covid when the shelves were getting emptied at a rapid pace. Now, I've finally found a time to begin consuming these stores. The shelves are now full, but all that's there is too expensive.

Arrive early to secure a spot, bring a blanket & warm layers, & consider bringing canned goods or other nonperishable food items to support the San Francisco-Marin Food Bank. Leashed, crowd-friendly dogs are welcome.

Get a 24-hour gym membership, preferably Planet Fitness. It's cheap, gives you access to bathrooms, showers, and a place to charge your phone for a bit. You can park almost anywhere as long as nobody sees you settling in 🤣. A windshield reflector is a must for privacy. If your windows aren't tinted, it's gonna be rough. Targets and Walmarts are usually fine to hang out at during the day, but at night you'll want to rotate between quiet residential streets, industrial areas, or other spots where overnight parking isn't unusual. Don't stay in the same place every night. Keep a pee bottle/emergency bathroom plan, a portable charger, extra clothes, wet wipes, and some nonperishable snacks in the car. Libraries are clutch too—they've got bathrooms, Wi-Fi, outlets, and A/C.Get a 24-hour gym membership, preferably Planet Fitness. The fewer people who know, the safer you'll generally be. Most importantly, don't tell random people you're sleeping in your car. The fewer people who know, the safer you'll generally be.

Isn’t it the mass production that makes it déclassé? Mayonnaise is literally a French emulsion of oil and eggs, and it has a bad reputation here because it’s not handmade, you buy it in nonperishable factory-dispensed quarts from the supermarket.
ok not to be a tweet stealer but ranch dressing is only coded as declasse because it's American. If the french made an emulsion of oil, buttermilk, garlic, dill, mustard, chives, and parsley, y'all would pay 6 dollars for a side of it
